Once again, live commentary will take place in Café de Zon during all rounds of the 2024 Tata Steel Chess Tournament. Several well known Dutch chess players will entertain the audience of Wijk aan Zee with analysis of the seven games that are being played in the Masters section.
Where the same ambiance as ever will still be present during the live commentary, some aspects are going to be new in comparison to previous years. As tested during last years Chess on Tour in the Johan Cruijff Arena (shown in the picture), the physical display chess boards are to be replaced by a large digital screen, in which our commentators can easily switch between games, play different lines, and compare different moves according to the engine. This way a new experience is created for the spectator.
Starting from the 1st round, live commentary takes place in Café de Zon every round, except for round 9. The live commentary during Chess on Tour takes place at the AFAS Circustheater in The Hague. After the start of each round, the start of the commentary will be at 14:20 with an introduction of the commentator and the progress of the games after the opening. Only the 13th round will start at 12:00, with the start of the commentary at 12:20.
Please note that the live commentary will be in Dutch
