Amateur Tournament registrations open November 1st

The Tata Steel Chess Tournament has always been more than a stage for the world’s best players. It is a yearly festival where chess players of all levels share the same passion, under one roof, in Wijk aan Zee. That tradition continues in 2026: the amateur tournaments are back.

The 88th edition of the “Wimbledon of Chess” will run from 16 January to 1 February 2026, once again combining top-level chess with the community that has defined the event for decades.

Registration for the amateur tournaments opens on Saturday, 1 November 2025 at 10:00 CET. Places are limited and interest is always high, so we encourage chess fans to sign up as soon as possible.
