Biography
Arjun Erigaisi was born on 3 September 2003 in Warangal, India, and became a grandmaster in 2018.
He first made his mark in Wijk aan Zee by winning the Tata Steel Challengers 2022, earning promotion to the Masters. Little did we know Arjun went on to become one of the best players in on the globe.
Outside Wijk aan Zee, his strongest results include winning the Sharjah Masters 2023, finishing joint first at the WR Chess Masters 2023, and playing a key role for India in major international team competitions, including the 2024 Chess Olympiad, where India won gold. In December 2024, he reached a peak rating of 2801, becoming one of the youngest players to cross the 2800 mark.
Arjun reached a peak rating of 2801 in December 2024 and has competed in multiple editions of the Tata Steel Masters. At the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2026, he returns to Wijk aan Zee to show his best!
