On Wednesday afternoon, January 17, Telstar’s 711 stadium will traditionally host a special football match. A number of chess grandmasters from the Masters and Challengers of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament will enter the field to play a friendly match together with players from the Telstar selection (both men and women).
After the warming-up, the match will begin at 3 p.m. Spectators can sit in the main grandstand for free. The game will last 2x 30 minutes.
Kids play chess simultaneous
The soccer match is not the only thing on the program Wednesday afternoon at Telstar. About 100 children from elementary schools and chess clubs in the region will play a chess simultaneous against chess professionals Hans Böhm, Jop Delemarre and Stefan Kuipers the same afternoon from 3:15 p.m. in the stadium.
The 86th edition of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament takes place in Wijk aan Zee and started on the 12th of January. The tournament will last until January 28, 2024. All playing days are open to interested parties free of charge after registration and can also be followed online.
