All games are played in Wijk aan Zee, a coastal village with a long-standing connection to the tournament and its unique atmosphere.
Tickets & registration
Admission to the Tata Steel Chess Tournament is free, but registration is required for all visitors.
Visitors are kindly asked to register in advance to gain access to the playing venue and facilities.
Please make sure to bring your registration confirmation when visiting the venue.
Getting to Wijk aan Zee
By public transport
Wijk aan Zee is easily reachable by train and bus. From major cities such as Amsterdam and Haarlem, regular connections are available to Station Beverwijk, with onward bus connections 75 and 78 to Wijk aan Zee.
By car
Wijk aan Zee can be reached by car via the A9 motorway. Please follow local signage when approaching the village.
Parking
Parking is available in and around Wijk aan Zee. Visitors are advised to follow the instructions of local authorities and event staff.
House rules
To ensure a pleasant experience for players and visitors alike, we kindly ask all spectators to observe the following guidelines:
- Large bags are NOT allowed in the playing venue. Small bags with a size of up to A4 and about 10cm thick are allowed and may be taken inside.
- To ensure fair play, the usage of mobile phones is NOT allowed in the playing hall, neither for camera purposes. Mobile phones should be switched off completely.
- Pictures and/or videos can only be taken with a digital camera during the first 7 minutes of the games. NEVER use flash while the games are in progress.
- Please do NOT talk loudly while the games are in progress and do not make obstructive noise.
