Erdogmus Yagiz Kaan

Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş (born 3 June 2011 in Bursa, Türkiye) is one of the most exciting young chess players in the world. He became a grandmaster at age 12, making him one of the youngest ever to earn the title. Yağız also holds the distinction of being the youngest player ever to reach a FIDE classical rating above 2600, demonstrating his rapid rise among the chess elite.  

Known for his sharp tactical vision and confident play, Erdoğmuş quickly moved up the world rankings and now sits among the global top 60. His dynamic style has brought success in major international competitions and he continues to impress with strong results against elite opponents.  

The 2026 Tata Steel Chess Tournament marks Yağız Kaan Erdoğmuş’ debut in the Masters group. Competing in Wijk aan Zee represents a landmark moment for the young grandmaster as he tests his skills on one of the sport’s most prestigious stages.
