Biography
A Chinese Grandmaster celebrated for his sharp tactical play and creative combinations, Wei Yi is an elite player and one of the greatest chess prodigies in history, becoming the youngest player to reach the 2700 rating mark. Wei joined the worlds top-10 for the first time after becoming the 2024 Tata Steel Chess Champion and remained here ever since. With a December 2024 FIDE rating of 2753, he holds the ninth position globally, reflecting his sustained excellence in the sport.
