Biography
Jorden van Foreest is a Dutch grandmaster and one of the Netherlands’ leading chess players. Born on 30 April 1999, he has been a prominent figure in Dutch chess from a young age and a regular competitor on the international stage.
Van Foreest achieved one of the highlights of his career by winning the Tata Steel Masters in 2021, becoming the first Dutch player to win the tournament since 1985. Known for his dynamic and uncompromising playing style, he combines deep opening preparation with creative and ambitious play.
In 2026, Jorden van Foreest returns to Wijk aan Zee for another appearance in the Tata Steel Masters, once again competing on home soil in one of the most prestigious tournaments in chess.
