Biography
Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu was born on 10 August 2005 in Chennai, India. He earned the grandmaster title in 2018.
He has played several editions of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee. In 2025 he won the Tata Steel Masters, becoming the current title defender.
Outside Wijk aan Zee, Pragg became second in the FIDE World Cup 2023, which qualified him for the Candidates Tournament.
Praggnanandhaa has reached a peak classical rating above 2785 and has been ranked among the world’s leading players.
At the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2026, he returns to the Masters group in Wijk aan Zee to defend the title.
