Biography
Vincent Keymer was born on 15 November 2004 in Mainz, Germany, and became a grandmaster in 2020. He first drew international attention in 2018 when he won the Grenke Chess Open as a 13-year-old, scoring 8/9 against a field that included multiple grandmasters. 
Keymer has since established himself among the world’s elite, crossing the 2750 rating threshold and reaching a FIDE world ranking as high as #4 in late 2025. 
Outside Wijk aan Zee, he has competed in numerous high-level international events and achieved strong results against top players. His tournament play has included notable performances that contributed to his ranking within the global top 10. 
At the Tata Steel Chess Tournament 2026, Keymer returns to Wijk aan Zee as the top seed of the Masters group.
