Tata Steel Chess Rapid Tournament 2026
The Tata Steel Chess Tournament revives an old tradition with the return of the Tata Steel Chess Rapid Tournament.
On Saturday 31 January 2026, players are invited to compete in a one-day rapid tournament held in Hotel Hoge Duin in Wijk aan Zee.
The tournament will be played over seven rounds and offers space for approximately 100 participants.

Final ranking & tiebreak system
In case of a tie, the final ranking will be determined as follows:
- Results between the tied players (only to determine the tournament winner)
- Buchholz (sum of opponents’ scores)
- Sonneborn-Berger score
- Progressive score
- Number of games won
- Drawing of lots
